From friend Simon Jongsma, my local Journalist from Arvika I got some photos from the 2007 car. After two years the colour changed again to "Ferrari" red.
Eklund build a new car, which we can see on the first photo. The car is not ready yet, there is a lot of work to do.
On the second photo, we see the car of last year. This car is also painted red.
Next wednesday, there will be a press conference at the Strägnäs racetrack.
If I receive some pictures, I will publish them ofcourse for you!

Per Eklund traveled to Kiruna to be one of the instructors at the Saab Ice Experience event.
Saab customers, VIP guests and dealers from all over the world are being greeted with ‘a cab on the rocks’ when they arrive for the Saab Ice Experience event at Sweden’s world famous ICE HOTEL.
Saab broke the ice when it pioneered the concept of an open-top car providing practical, all-year-round transport. So it was clearly a cool idea to ‘freeze frame’ the latest Saab 9-3 Convertible in a garage made from ice at the hotel, near Jukkasjärvi in northern Sweden, 200 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle.
Visible at night from a kilometer away, the icy reflections of the Convertible’s illuminated bright blue paintwork give arriving guests an automotive interpretation of the Northern Lights. The installation, added to this year’s version of the ICE HOTEL, is made from 60 ice blocks, weighing 30 tonnes, all harvested from the nearby Torne river, one of Europe’s purest.
Saab is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and the new Anniversary Convertible model was chosen to light up the sky. About 500 guests will attend the event, which finishes on 18 March, although test driving will not include the ice-bound Convertible.
”Snow and ice are core elements of Scandinavian nature, so it was a very natural step for us to adopt this theme for our Convertible, the original car for all seasons.” says Marie Larsson, Saab's Event Project Manager.
“Sweden also has a strong tradition for environmental care. For example, the ice used to build this hotel is a renewable resource that is recycled each year when it melts and returns to the river. In a similar way, our Saab BioPower engines are able to run on bioethanol, a renewable fuel with a greatly reduced CO2 impact.”

On the site of Tron-models I found the Porsche 911 SC Group 3 rallycar, the car which Eklund drove with co-driver Björn Cederberg at the 1000 Lakes rally in Finland.
Scale 1:43 kit, item ARE390.
Tron-models write on there site 1980, but that must be 1978. In 1980 Eklund drove with a Triumph TR7 V8 at this rally.
In 1978 Eklund drove to a 4th place overall.
Searching on the internet results in this photo of the Porsche 911.
I'm not 100% sure, but Eklund still has this car at his garage in Arvika. It's still onder restoration, a long time project...

Again I found some new scale models, this time two Toyota Celica's.
The first a Toyota Celica 2000 GT (RA40) from Miniracing, scale 1:43 (résine kit 0496).
It's the car driver Per Eklund and co-driver Ragnar Spjuth compete in the world rally of Portugal (1982). This car has number 8.
Rally result: a second place!
The second one, a Toyota Celica 2000 GT (RA40) from Miniracing, scale 1:43 (résine kit 0606). It's the car driver Per Eklund and co-driver Jan-Olof Bohlin compete in the world rally of France, Tour de Corse (1981). This car has number 7.
Rally result: a 6th place!

Last summer, I got some photos from my parents. They took some photos back in August 1974 at the rallycross in Valkenswaard (NL).
The first picture shows Eklund, together with a driver in a green Porsche. I think this is Björn Waldergård..
On the second picture, it's my sister (3 years) and me (4 years old) at the orange Saab 96 V4 from Per Eklund and his teammate Stig Blomqvist.
At that time, 23 years ago, it must be the first time I was fan of the driving style of Per Eklund!
Another picture of this year I found at the Lennart Jarmyr's shared albums.
It's a picture of the EC finale rallycross at Lydden Hill near London.

British rallycross driver Andrew Jordan has concluded a deal to drive the second Per Eklund Saab 9-3 at the 2006 Rallycross Superprix.
Jordan drives with a Ford Focus at the MSA British Rallycross Championship. He currently standing 3th place overall.
Ex European Rallycross Champion, Will Gollop has put together a deal for Andrew Jordan (from Sutton Coldfield) to race Per Eklund’s second Saab 9_3 in the 2006 Shannon Holdings Rallycross Superprix at Croft Circuit on October 28th & 29th. Jordan had been planning to use the Ford Focus in the event, but Gollop is away on holiday visiting his son on the weekend of the Superprix.
Andrew stated:"I would like to thank Will for putting together the deal for me to race the Saab at the Rallycross Superprix. I am looking forward to working with ex European Rallycross Champion, Per Eklund at the event and I certainly won’t be there just to make up the numbers. I want to take home the Superprix winners trophy. My first opportunity to drive the car will be at the Superprix media day at Croft next week, which will allow me to draw on Per's experience with the car."
The Saab will be run under the Canterbury Saab banner at the event, together with sponsors Bill Gwynne, John Guest and Pirtek. Andrew is hoping to continue with Gollop next season, taking in selected rounds of the 2007 European Rallycross Championship.

It was announced today that London based Limerick Rally driver Ollie O Donovan will drive the Saab 9-3 Aero Sport 4x4 Supercar at the forthcoming Shannon Holdings Rallycross Superprix at Croft on October 28/29. Ollie who is better known for his Rallying in a McKinstry run Subaru WRC has competed in the last few rounds of the British Championship and will sponsor the event through his company Shannon Holdings.
“I am delighted that we have been able to reach an agreement to bring Per’s Division 1 car the to the 2006 Shannon Holdings Rallycross Superprix. It’s something that we have been working on for a while now, but because Per has already started work on his 2007 car it means that he cannot do the event which is a great pity. I am really happy though, that he will be there to help with the car set up and bring his considerable expertise to the weekend. I would not say we are favourites to win now, but with a car like this we must have a great chance and I will be doing my best to come out on top.”
Eklund only just missed out on winning the 2006 Swedish Rallycross Championship with the car, finishing second overall behind the new European Rallycross Champion Lars Larsson and said “ Ollie contacted me some time back about using my second car for the Superprix and it was easy to reach an agreement with him to use the Saab. At that stage I was planning on competing at the event, but Saab Sweden have released next years body shell to me early, so we have already started working on that which sadly means I cannot compete with our second car. I am now looking forward to Croft, to run Ollie instead, which should be easy to do with a driver of his experience. He has done very well this year since coming into the British Rallycross Championship and Croft could be very good to him this year”.

At the last race of season 2006, Eklund had a disappointing result.
At Buxtehude (Germany), he could not make it to one of the finals.
Result heat 1: 10th
Result heat 2: 17th
Result heat 3: 22th
Overall a 19th place. Only the best 16 are qualified for the finals.
But we congratulate Lars Larsson and his whole team with their first EC-gold.
Larsson and Eklund share the same engine tuner: Trollspeed. Also to them: congratulations!
The 2006 season is over, Eklund reach a 9th position overall at the European championship and a second place overall at the Swedish championship.
Now he can concentrate to build a new 9-3 over the winter period.
